Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to join RTX as a Bench Mechanic on the 3rd Shift, working Sunday-Thursday, 11:30pm-7:00am. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing pre-coating operations, surface preparation, and masking duties. You will also troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning equipment, perform minor repairs on coating equipment, and ensure that parts meet quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform deburring, blending, polishing, countersinking, grinding, drilling, or grit blast operations using hand and power tools and equipment on aerospace engine components.
  • Perform Total Preventive Maintenance on applicable machines/equipment as required.
  • Check parts to meet visual and dimensional requirements using various measuring equipment/tools.
  • Assure completed parts meet quality requirements.
  • Work from oral and written instructions to remove burrs, nicks, and scratches on parts.
  • Assist engineers and others in developing new or changed operations.
  • Make recommendations for changing and improving operating parameters and processes.
  • Refer any difficulties to leader or supervisor.

Requirements:

  • 0-1 years of related experience, or a completed degree/certificate from a post-secondary or vocational school in a related field with 0-1+ years related experience.
  • High School or GED.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with metal finishing methods, spray coating/paint application, machining, grinding, and/or welding.
  • Experience with computerized machine operation.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments such as feeler gauges, verniers, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic involving decimals and fractions.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions concerning work methods and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Flexibility around shifts, for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

Role Type:

This role is Onsite, which means employees will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
