Job Description:

A Medical Assistant has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This involves caring for patients with acute and chronic needs.

At Intermountain Health, we are seeking a Medical Assistant who is patient-focused and engaged to join our clinic float pool in Park City and Heber Valley.

The Wasatch Back float pool provides coverage for clinics that may open as early as 6:30 AM and stay open as late as 7 PM Monday thru Friday.

We also support the InstaCares, which are typically open 7 days a week and holidays from 7:50 AM - 8 PM.

Float Pool caregivers are expected to work the entire requested shift, usually 8-12 hours, and not partial shifts.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs basic clerical and office duties, including assembling necessary documents and supplies, and effectively using computer applications in the office setting.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and monitors appointments, inpatient and outpatient admissions, tests, treatments, and procedures.
  • Maintains medical records and other information, and maintains inventory of supplies.
  • Accurately documents patient history, physical, and vital information into the medical record.
  • Performs business and financial duties, including assigning procedural and diagnostic coding to encounter forms, conducting pre-authorizations and referrals, and facilitating timely billing.
  • Performs clinical functions within acceptable standards of care, including prioritizing patient needs, recognizing and responding to emergency situations, preparing and maintaining examination and treatment areas, and administering screening tests to patients.
  • Assists provider with examinations, procedures, treatments, and interventions, and provides patient education as directed.
  • Reports significant changes in patient condition or other pertinent patient information to the Physician.
Requirements:
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, or current RN/LPN license.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications or registrations: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.
