Position Overview
The Physician at Prisma Health is tasked with delivering exceptional medical services to patients within the Prisma Health-University Medical Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, prevent, and treat diseases, defects, or injuries, while recommending or prescribing treatments aimed at alleviating or curing physical, mental, or functional issues.
- Provide medical care to patients in accordance with widely accepted professional standards, ensuring equitable treatment regardless of their financial situation or demographic background.
- Maintain accurate, clear, and timely documentation for all medical evaluations and procedures, utilizing Current Procedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseases codes appropriately.
- Share after-hours call responsibilities with fellow physicians, unless otherwise agreed upon.
- Adhere to accepted medical practices, as well as the regulations set forth by managed care organizations and other payors, including Medicare and Medicaid, while prioritizing professional medical judgment.
- Enhance clinical expertise through ongoing medical education to fulfill certification and state licensing requirements.
- Actively engage in non-revenue generating initiatives that support the Vision and Mission of Prisma Health, which may include committee participation, community outreach, and contributing to teaching and research objectives as directed by the relevant Department Chair.
- Contribute to the response for proposals related to managed care contracts.
- Assist in the development of quality assurance, utilization management, patient education, and satisfaction programs.
- Support the organization in acquiring and maintaining necessary licenses, permits, and accreditations pertinent to the Physician's Practice or Department.
Management Responsibilities
This role does not include management duties and will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Essential Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
- Completion of Residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible; Medical Staff Privileges.
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Medical License in South Carolina.
- Controlled Substance License in South Carolina.
- Drug Enforcement Agency Number.
Additional Skills and Experience
- Basic proficiency in computer usage.
- Familiarity with office equipment such as fax machines and copiers.
- Mathematical proficiency.
- Specialty-specific skills.
