Position Summary:
The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, implementing, and managing the needs of surgical patients throughout their care journey, focusing on progress toward discharge, including during transitions within the acute care environment.
The surgical nurse serves as the advocate for patients during surgical procedures.The Registered Professional Nurse ensures the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team.
They guarantee that competent and compassionate patient care is consistently delivered to all stakeholders, including referring facilities, hospital staff, and patients in various settings such as inpatient, ambulatory, and community.
Hourly Range:
$60.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Implementing physician orders, administering medications within the sterile field, and documenting as required by organizational policies and local/state/federal regulations.
- Assessing and evaluating patient needs and responses to the care provided.
- Applying sound nursing judgment in making patient care management decisions.
- Directing and guiding ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of a professional nursing program with a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree preferred.
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license required.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory; CNOR certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 1-3 years of clinical RN experience in a surgical setting is preferred.
- Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools, demonstrating the ability to apply them in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.
The Surgical Care program at Albany Medical Center is expanding to meet the needs of our patients, with enhanced surgical facilities and capabilities.
The Operating Room at our Main Campus features 35 state-of-the-art operating suites equipped with advanced robotic technology and specialty rooms catering to cardiac, neurology, urology, vascular, and pediatric patients.Our hybrid operating suite integrates minimally invasive and interventional surgical techniques, including 3D and rotational CT imaging, alongside a two-room intraoperative CT suite designed for complex procedures such as spine and brain surgeries.
This role may involve access to sensitive information related to Albany Medical Center, its patients, affiliates, and partners, including but not limited to HIPAA Protected Health Information and other information regulated by Federal and New York State statutes.
Workforce members are expected to ensure that:
