Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all activities related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and morale associated with multiple lines within a single Factory on a single shift. This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing and typically has 1 Team Leader and 1 Supervisor reporting to them, along with up to 75 operators and general laborers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Leadership: Be a Safety role model for the Operations Team with a Safety-First mindset and lead with a relentless drive to eliminate risk in every aspect of the operation.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead as a Champion of Quality ensuring that the principles of Quality Assurance are never compromised by other priorities.
  • Operations Strategy: Work closely with the Director of Manufacturing to develop and execute an operations strategy that will meet or exceed business goals.
  • Cost Management: Own the auditing of line costs and develop a plan to bring spending inside budget ranges.
  • Leadership and Communication: Provide effective leadership coordination and communication to ensure alignment of employees across multiple shift operations.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead Root Cause Analysis of chronic issues and assign responsibility for corrective actions.
  • Project Management: Identify and lead projects to deliver specific improvements to key company metrics.
  • Asset Management: Ensure that assets are properly managed and maintained.
  • Crisis Management: Provide leadership in the event of a facility emergency and assess the situation to ensure appropriate measures are being implemented.
  • Employee Development: Support the training and development of employees to ensure continued factory growth and effective operation.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws, corporate policies, and facility policies.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with R&D and QA line trials of new products or special runs.
  • Maintenance: Coordinate with the maintenance team any set-up or repairs that are needed, creating work requests in the existing maintenance system.
  • Policy Enforcement: Follow and enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Time Management: Utilize timekeeping software to approve employee timecards and PTO requests in a timely manner.
Qualification Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience in Manufacturing Operations or like industry, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years' experience in Manufacturing, Operations or like industry.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership capabilities including a willingness to listen to others and include others' ideas in their plan, an eagerness to learn, grow, and take on new challenges, and is self-aware and knows how their actions impact others around them.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Experience with Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action in a manufacturing environment.
  • Engineering Process Controls: Experience with Engineering process controls including Statistical Process Controls and line integration techniques.
  • Factory Metrics: Experience in tracking and reporting Factory metrics, budgets, and estimates.
  • Project Facilitation: Experience facilitating projects/programs in a team environment while providing team leadership.
  • Team Development: Strong capabilities in developing team members through coaching and feedback.
  • Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft works (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), SOP, OPL and Training creation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Factory Management Experience: Previous Factory Management Experience including cross-functional management of quality, operations, engineering, and supply chain.
  • Value Stream Concepts: Experience with Value Stream concepts such as Value Stream Mapping and/or project planning.
  • Operation Environment: Understanding of an Operation Environment (TAKT, Line Balancing, Value Stream Mapping).
  • Quality Systems: Quality Systems and their Application.
  • LEAN Manufacturing: Experience with LEAN Manufacturing and problem solving.
  • High-Speed Manufacturing: Experience in a high-speed industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Operations Knowledge: Knowledge and experience in operations at the functional level.
Physical Demands
  • Work Environment: Work in a cold or hot environment as needed.
  • Lifting: Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Mobility: Maneuver around an array of equipment that may include bending, stooping, reach above head.
  • Standing: Stand for the majority of shift, up to 10 hrs. at a time.
Work Environment

This position works in a manufacturing environment with variable temperature and loud noises from machinery and equipment alarms.
