Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse

As a leader of the healthcare team, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. The ideal candidate will demonstrate performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan of the organization. The successful candidate will remain flexible to changing systems, demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice, and treat co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team with dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities:- Leadership: The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse will uphold Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws. They will serve as a leader of the healthcare team, delegate tasks appropriately, and demonstrate appropriate accountability.
- Nursing Process: The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse will develop and/or contribute to the individualized plan of care that reflects assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the outcomes of that plan. They will ensure the plan shows multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education.
- Documentation: The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse will chart accurately, legibly, dated, and timed. They will document reflections of the nursing process and interventions and evaluations taken.
- Clinical Outcomes: The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse will discuss patient findings and progress toward outcomes with physicians and other members of the healthcare team. They will demonstrate competencies during the probationary period and ongoing completion by departmental competency validation.
- Workplace Safety: The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse will adhere to LMP Workplace Safety principles and practices. They will apply standard precautions and maintain a safe environment for self and others.
- Patient Care Experience: The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse will practice customer service standards as defined by the Service Area, Medical Center, and specified department. They will promptly answer call lights, alarms, and patient requests.
- Team Commitment: The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse will be viewed by others as an effective team member who is flexible, cooperative, and willing to assist others. They will confront difficult or conflict situations constructively and seek appropriate assistance.
- Experience: 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in PICU, or successful completion of a KP PICU course or approved equivalent within prior 12 months.
- Education: N/A
- License, Certification, Registration: Pediatric Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Certification within 6 months of hire OR Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Provider Certification within 6 months of hire, Registered Nurse License (California), Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Basic Life Support.
