Position Overview:

As a vital member of Olmsted Medical Center, the Lead Registered Nurse in our Outpatient Services will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care in the fields of Neurology and Nephrology. This position offers a full-time schedule during the day shift, allowing for a balanced work-life environment.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Minnesota
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of employment
  • Minimum of three years of nursing experience, with previous clinic experience preferred
  • Leadership experience is advantageous

Key Responsibilities:

The practice of professional nursing encompasses, but is not limited to:
  • Conducting comprehensive health assessments to establish a baseline and care plan for patients, while monitoring changes in their condition.
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team to formulate and coordinate an integrated care plan.
  • Developing and implementing nursing interventions tailored to patient needs.
  • Executing independent nursing actions and prescribed interventions effectively.
  • Delegating nursing tasks and assigning activities to ensure the care plan is implemented.
  • Providing safe, effective nursing care and fostering a therapeutic environment.
  • Advocating for patients' best interests and evaluating the effectiveness of care plans.
  • Coordinating with healthcare professionals across various settings to manage and implement care.
  • Promoting health, preventing disease, and coordinating care.
  • Designing and assessing educational plans based on patient needs.
  • Participating in the development of healthcare policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring accountability for the quality of care delivered, recognizing the limits of knowledge and experience.
  • Managing and supervising nursing practice and maintaining competencies relevant to the area of practice.
  • Assisting in recruitment, performance evaluations, budget preparation, and staff scheduling.
  • Training new staff members effectively.
  • Monitoring licensed nursing staff and medical assistants.
  • Handling initial patient complaints and performing triage as needed.
  • Completing other assigned duties as necessary.
