Adjunct Faculty 2D Art Instructor

An adjunct faculty member will be responsible for maintaining the highest academic standards in their particular discipline. The individual is expected to exercise professionalism in all activities related to the role of academician, including those concerned with the various duties assigned by the Department Chair, and any involvement with colleagues, peers, community and students.
Key Responsibilities- Teach all courses as assigned.
- Maintain attendance and punctuality.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
- Prepare course syllabi (if not provided by the Department).
- Prepare instructional materials (if not provided by Department).
- Deliver course content in an effective manner to support student learning and meets the designated student learning outcomes.
- Participate in assessment.
- Meet all scheduled classes on the assigned day/time.
- Use scheduled class time appropriately.
- Makes oneself available to students and college officials as needed.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude, philosophy, compassion and commitment that promotes student growth and learning.
- Demonstrate commitment to the institutional mission, goals, and objectives.
- Adhere to College Rules and Procedures, which reflect updated Federal, state, and local legislation/regulations and College policy that governs the educational process.
- Maintain accurate student records for grading and attendance purposes, submitting attendance, grades, and other reports within college deadlines.
- During periods of planned absences, coordinate with the respective Department Chair or supervising academic administrator for qualified substitute instructors and provides instructional materials, protocols, and directions to ensure consistent and sequential classroom instruction.
- Promote and maintain a healthy and safe educational and work environment, free from harassment and discrimination.
- Demonstrate professional growth and development by updating knowledge of subject matter and using effective teaching techniques.
- Develop, maintain and promote a positive working environment among departmental faculty.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the respective Department Chair or other supervising academic administrator.
- Demonstrated teaching skills and subject knowledge, preferably at the community college level.
- Masters in Studio Art or MFA.
- Computer Skills: Must demonstrate effective use of instructional technology and be familiar with current office hardware and software.
- Certificates and Licenses: Responsibility for Communication: Must be able to effectively communicate with students, staff and the public.

The noise level in the work environment varies from very quiet to moderate as is typical of an office or classroom environment.
The environment is usually indoors in a centrally heated/air-conditioned climate.
Lighting conditions meet recommended standards and are provided by direct and/or indirect electric light fixtures of various kinds.
This position may require the wearing of personal protective devices for health and safety precautions.

Independently transport oneself to various campus locations on a 100-acre campus.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, identification and discernment of colors, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
