Dialysis Nurse Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Dialysis Nurse Specialist to join our team at Children's Mercy Kansas City. As a Dialysis Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert care to patients with acute renal failure and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing comprehensive plans of care, educating patients and families, and advocating for their needs.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize the nursing process to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive plans of care for patients with acute and chronic renal failure.
- Meet the educational and informational needs of patients, families, hospital staff, and the community.
- Integrate CMS, CDC, KDOQI, and other regulatory standards and practice guidelines to build ongoing quality improvement activities.
- Utilize current research and evidence-based practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree (or Bachelor's Degree preferred)
- Current RN licensure in Kansas or Missouri (or RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO)
- Specialty certification relevant to the unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) preferred
