Position Summary

This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Key Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, the individual will carry out all tasks related to the acquisition, processing, submission for analysis, and storage of radiographic images. The specialist is accountable for patient care while in the imaging department.

  • Exhibits proficiency in the positioning of patients for all imaging procedures as outlined by departmental guidelines.
  • Engages with patients to clarify procedures, gather clinical history, ensure understanding, and address any inquiries or concerns.
  • Positions patients and determines exposure parameters for various imaging examinations while ensuring patient safety and radiation protection in line with established protocols.
  • Evaluates all diagnostic imaging requests for suitability based on the clinical information provided, communicating any uncertainties to the radiologists for final validation.
  • Receives verbal instructions from healthcare providers as necessary and accurately enters them into the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Prepares and maintains documentation in compliance with various regulatory standards, entering patient and study details into the radiology information system, and recording billing codes for procedures performed to guarantee precise patient charges.
  • Collaborates, communicates, and consults with Radiologists, working independently with healthcare providers outside the department.
  • Monitors patients during imaging procedures for any changes in condition and takes appropriate action or contacts primary caregivers for guidance.
  • Provides mentorship and direction to other staff members assigned to the area, including student radiographers, and identifies and resolves issues as necessary, reporting critical incidents to the appropriate authority.
  • Utilizes resources and equipment efficiently to minimize costs.
  • Maintains all required continuing education and relevant certifications for the modality.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of a JRCERT accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • ARRT Registered or eligible for registration through the ARRT.
  • ARRT certification is required in accordance with established work instructions.
