Job Summary

This is a 12-month, part-time position that requires a high level of customer service and technical skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the Access Services team to provide excellent user services, train and supervise student employees, and maintain the security and safety of library users, materials, and spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one information, collection, directional, and other assistance to students, faculty, staff, and community guests
  • Ensure the safety and security of library users, materials, and spaces
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate student employees
  • Process, maintain, and update reserves, resource sharing, and interlibrary loan materials
  • Create, update, and maintain the security of library user records
  • Share responsibility for collecting, collating, and distributing library statistics
  • Assist in library collection maintenance
  • Shares responsibility for determining, implementing, and documenting Access Services policies and procedures
  • Assist users and coordinate with the University's Department of Public Safety in emergency situations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated experience with, and an understanding of, excellent customer service
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure in challenging situations
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team
  • Available to work evenings and weekends during the semester, and daytimes during intersession, when class is not in session, and summers
  • Ability to move throughout the building often and transport 30 pounds daily with or without accommodation
