About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team at KIPP NYC Public Schools. This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a positive impact on the lives of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-teach alongside a general education teacher in an inclusive classroom setting to support students' academic and personal growth.
  • Plan and implement a rigorous college preparatory curriculum aligned with Common Core standards, adapting instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine teaching strategies, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality educational experiences.
  • Communicate regularly with families and staff to share student progress, address concerns, and provide guidance on how parents can support their children's learning.
Requirements
  • A minimum of two years of teaching experience in special education, preferably in an urban setting.
  • New York State Special Education teacher certification or equivalent qualifications.
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating engaging lesson plans, adapting instruction to meet diverse learning styles, and assessing student progress.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
