Job Summary

Securian Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled Structured Assets Credit Analyst to support the growth of our structured assets portfolios. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for helping us achieve our investment objectives through timely new issue recommendations, structural and underlying asset analysis, and ongoing surveillance of current holdings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of primary and secondary structured asset markets, including relative value analysis and investment opportunities.
  • Provide timely and insightful recommendations on new issues, taking into account structural and underlying asset analysis.
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance of current holdings, ensuring that risk is properly aligned with our investment objectives.
  • Collaborate with the structured assets team to develop and maintain a comprehensive investment sector thesis, including positioning and internal rating assessments.
  • Evaluate underlying asset performance metrics and compare them to benchmarks, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and update asset analytics and modeling, ensuring that our investment decisions are informed by the latest data and insights.
  • Contribute to sector-level analysis and overview, identifying inflection points and providing fundamental sector outlook and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of ESG factors and their impact on our investment decisions.
  • Participate in cross-sector support and debate, providing analytical support and contributing to relative value discussions.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in investment research, with a strong background in structured analysis and portfolio management.
  • Current or working towards CFA and/or MBA certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make objective recommendations and defend viewpoints.
  • Strong math and analytical skills, with a deep understanding of structural nuances and modeling capabilities.
  • Ability to distill and communicate critical issues and assumptions.
  • Broad understanding of financial markets and risk models, supported by a background in math, economics, or statistics.
  • High level of curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Experience utilizing research tools such as Bloomberg, Intex, Excel, and Tableau.
