Job Description

At Bowlin Group LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electric Line Technician to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for the construction, repair, and maintenance of electric distribution and transmission lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure compliance with all safety rules, procedures, and practices.
  2. Assist and direct the training of other employees in the correct operating procedures necessary to fully satisfy the classification duties of Line Technician A and all lower classifications within the subject line of progression.
  3. Report to assigned locations for training and actively participate in training activities.
  4. Exhibit an adequate competency level pertaining to activities delineated in the Duties and Qualifications sections of this job classification.
  5. Watch for and promptly report to supervision any damaged or defective equipment or conditions that may cause damage or injury.
  6. Perform duties of lower or higher classifications that are incidental to the job and are within your capabilities.
  7. Keep all equipment, tools, materials, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  8. Report as directed to any facility for any shift where needed.
  9. Perform work in a responsible and cooperative manner to facilitate a positive working environment.
  10. Represent the Company to the community with attention to the highest standard of conduct, appearance, and attitude.

Specific Duties:

  1. Perform all of the duties required of a Line Technician B.
  2. Interpret and carry out all instructions outlined on construction drawings and blueprints pertaining to line construction, maintenance, and removal.
  3. Perform all types of construction, removal, operation, maintenance, and repair work on all types and voltages of energized and de-energized lines.
  4. Phase out and parallel primary or secondary circuits and power and lighting transformers.
  5. Install, remove, operate, maintain, and repair all wire, cables, conductors, transformers, regulators, capacitors, re-closer, switches, cutouts, lightning arrestors, insulators, clamps, poles, anchors, guys, pole line hardware, and all other devices that are a part of, and necessary to the operation of, the transmission and distribution system.

Qualifications:

  1. Meet all general qualifications of employment.
  2. Be able to speak, understand, read, and write English, and be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  3. Be able to learn to use the tools and equipment required in the work.
  4. Be thoroughly familiar with the Company Safety Rules and willingly see that they are enforced.
  5. Have a valid state driver's license and pass the Transportation Department's driver's test for operating Company vehicles, including those with manual transmissions.
  6. Be willing to work inside and outside under varying weather conditions.
  7. Be willing to report as directed to any facility for any shift where needed.
  8. Be in good health and be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, which include work at heights and heavy manual labor.
  9. Be willing and able to communicate through both verbal and written reports.
  10. Be able to learn to make and read simple drawings and sketches.
  11. Have demonstrated ability to carry through work assignments, and conduct himself/herself in a manner that encourages cooperation and satisfactory work from others assigned to work with him/her.
  12. Have demonstrated proficiency in the ability to perform the duties associated with the lower classification(s) within the line of progression.
  13. Be able to lead, direct, and train other employees assigned to work with him/her to obtain satisfactory work results.
