Altru Health System is seeking a skilled Cytotechnologist to join our dedicated team. This role is crucial in the diagnosis and differentiation of diseases through the examination of various samples.
Key Responsibilities- Certification Requirements: Must obtain Cytotechnologist (CT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within the designated timeframe.
- Contract Duration: This position is offered as a 13-week contract.
- Diagnostic Duties: Responsible for the identification and diagnosis of diseases in both gynecological and non-gynecological specimens.
- Pathologist Support: Assist the Pathologist with fine needle aspirates and other related tasks.
- Microscopic Analysis: Conduct thorough microscopic examinations to differentiate and identify cellular structures based on cytologic criteria.
- Specimen Evaluation: Evaluate the acceptability of specimens and communicate necessary collection and transport protocols.
- Data Management: Record and retrieve data efficiently in daily operations.
- Final Diagnosis Preparation: Prepare final diagnoses for gynecologic specimens that are within normal limits.
- Quality Control: Exercise judgment in troubleshooting quality control failures.
- Additional Duties: Perform accessioning, routine staining, and coverslipping of slides while maintaining clear specimen identification.
- Must meet CLIA education and experience standards for Cytotechnologists.
- Ongoing maintenance of certification is required for employees obtaining CT certification after the specified cutoff.
This position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
