Position Overview:
As a Full-Time Registered Nurse in the Medical/Telemetry Unit, you will work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a commitment to working every third weekend.

Role Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Your duties will encompass:
  • Directing and guiding patient education activities and supporting staff while upholding professional nursing standards.
  • Utilizing electronic medical records to manage patient information effectively.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, psychological, and psychosocial needs.
  • Applying clinical knowledge to gather health histories and perform assessments.
  • Providing leadership and support to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, MAs, and CNAs.
  • Implementing nursing services competently and in accordance with established protocols and policies.
  • Making timely referrals to healthcare providers based on assessments and diagnostic results.
  • Coordinating with physicians for medication orders to ensure continuity of care.
  • Demonstrating a thorough understanding of pharmacology, including drug interactions and contraindications.
  • Participating in the training of facility personnel on mental health standards.
  • Adhering to correctional facility policies and procedures.
  • Performing duties within the scope of the State Nurse Practice Act and ethical guidelines.
  • Carrying out additional responsibilities as assigned after receiving appropriate training.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
  • A current and valid Illinois State Registered Nursing License.
  • A degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Experience in correctional nursing is advantageous.
