Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Registered Dietitian to join our team at Compass Behavioral Health, California. As a Nutrition Therapist for Adolescent Mental Health, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive care to our teen clients struggling with mood disorders and eating disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct nutritional assessments for new patients, considering their individual needs, preferences, and medical history.
- Develop and approve weekly menus that reflect Nutritional Psychiatry Didactics taught, and meet state guidelines.
- Provide personalized dietary recommendations, treatment plans, and meal plans tailored to each client's specific nutrition requirements and treatment goals.
- Collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care and holistic support for our clients.
- Provide ongoing nutritional counseling and evidence-based education to clients and their families, empowering them to make informed choices and develop healthy eating habits.
- Facilitate family sessions and education, including therapeutic meals, as appropriate.
- Provide group-based nutrition education that is appropriate to the age group and developmental needs of the patients.
- Communicate with outpatient teams and monitor clients' progress, making adjustments to meal plans and interventions as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in the field of adolescent nutrition and eating disorders, integrating new knowledge into your practice.
- Participate in supervision with expert consultants and collaborate with the treatment team to ensure the best standard of nutrition and dietary services are occurring.
- Support staff with the enforcement of dietary program expectations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the medical complications of eating disorders.
- Communicate with medical doctors and psychiatrists as needed regarding any medical problems that may require dietary intervention.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of client assessments, interventions, and progress notes in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Participate in Compass' Social Media Committee, creating content to support eating disorder recovery and managing your mind and mood through food.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a dietitian, with specific experience in treating adolescents with eating disorders strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of adolescent development, mental health issues, and the interplay between nutrition and mental well-being.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with adolescents and their families.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
- Requirements to pass a criminal background check, child abuse registry check, and all other state licensing requirements.
