Key Responsibilities
  • Provide dental prophylaxis and oral cancer screening to patients
  • Chart conditions of decay and disease, and perform procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act
  • Prepare patients for dental hygiene treatment, including welcoming, seating, and draping
  • Provide information to patients and employees, answering questions and requests
  • Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment, sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments
  • Select materials and equipment for dental hygiene visits, evaluating patients' oral health
  • Complete dental prophylaxis, cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and beneath gum margins
  • Detect disease, completing oral cancer screening, feeling and visually examining gums, and exposing and developing radiographic studies
  • Arrest dental decay, applying fluorides and other cavity-preventing agents
Requirements
  • Active dental hygiene license in MI
  • Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills to educate patients on oral health care practice
