GENERAL OVERVIEW:
This role is exclusively for staffing agency personnel.
The Cardiovascular Technologist plays a crucial role in assisting with various procedures within the invasive cardiology department. This position ensures a secure patient care environment that supports the diagnosis and treatment of individuals with cardiac conditions. The technologist is responsible for maintaining and operating essential physiological systems while engaging in unit-based activities that foster a professional and positive workplace.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. *Embraces the mission, vision, and values of the organization, consistently demonstrating core principles.
2. *Provides support during invasive cardiology procedures conducted in the invasive lab, electrophysiology lab, ICU-CCU, and operating room.
3. *Operates in a scrub capacity by preparing, organizing, and anticipating necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure safe patient care and successful operative procedures as directed by the healthcare provider.
4. May apply skin sealants and steri-strips following the closure of skin; does not perform incision closures.
5. *Records, analyzes, and documents clinical patient data; identifies and communicates arrhythmias; monitors arterial and/or venous pressure lines.
6. Assists in the movement of Cath lab imaging equipment under the supervision of the physician; proficiently utilizes digital enhancement tools.
7. *Demonstrates competencies and executes therapeutic interventions aligned with Cath lab protocols, considering risk management and infection control practices.
8. Assembles, operates, and troubleshoots equipment required for various procedures in the Invasive Cardiology Lab; takes appropriate actions as necessary.
9. *Evaluates the effects of Cath lab interventions on the patient's condition and recognizes the patient's progress toward achieving desired outcomes.
10. Acts as a role model and mentor for students in health-related fields.
11. *Initiates communication with colleagues and other healthcare team members regarding clinical care priorities.
12. Provides information to patients and their families to alleviate anxiety and conveys an attitude of acceptance, sensitivity, and compassion.
13. May intubate patients in accordance with established procedures and within the scope of practice.
14. Reports patient conditions to relevant personnel, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
15. *Employs problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to cultivate effective working relationships with peers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must possess at least one of the following qualifications:
- An Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Technology or a related health field, including Paramedic Medicine.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a valid state license for respiratory therapy practice.
- Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
- Graduation from an accredited radiologic technology program with current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). A valid state medical radiographer license is required, with Cardiovascular or Vascular Interventional certification preferred.
Prior experience in hemodynamic monitoring and ECG interpretation is preferred.
