About Our Retail Team

Join The Salvation Army's Retail Team and be part of a dedicated team that serves and impacts our local community. Our Kailua Location Thrift Store supports the Adult Rehabilitation Program and offers a positive shopping and donor experience. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will promote customer service, problem-solving, and teamwork skills while contributing to the success of our program and its participants.

Responsibilities
  • Take an active role in day-to-day store operations and partner with the Store Manager
  • Provide coaching, training, and development to store employees
  • Ensure customer and donor needs are met by maintaining good customer and donor relations
  • Communicate personnel issues with management and resolve complaints efficiently
  • Ensure store maintenance and inventory levels are adequate
  • Implement loss prevention measures and maintain safety standards
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
  • Accurate handling of POS and cash register operations
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Pass a background check, including criminal history and sex offender registry
  • Effective communication skills
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects, and move product up to 50lbs
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks
Schedule

Our stores operate 7 days a week. Work schedules are determined by management and employees must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may be scheduled to work any full-time shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The Salvation Army will comply with all governmental orders and contractual obligations relative to COVID-19 safety measures, including mandatory vaccination of staff. Requests for exemptions on religious or medical grounds will be considered when available.
