Position Overview

The Pilot-in-Command (PIC) is entrusted with the leadership and accountability for the flight crew, passengers, cargo, and the secure execution of the flight. This role requires effective guidance and coordination of all personnel involved in every aspect of aircraft operations. The PIC is expected to follow established Cockpit Resource Management (CRM) protocols and will report directly to the Chief Pilot and the Director of Operations. This position operates from a home base, with a primary focus on round-trip flights, allowing crew members to return home most nights, although some charter assignments may necessitate overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain ultimate authority for the safe operation of the aircraft.
  • Oversee the Second-in-Command (SIC) and ensure all flight crew members are aware of and fulfill their responsibilities using effective CRM techniques.
  • Verify that the assigned aircraft is airworthy, with all necessary documentation onboard and adequately prepared for the journey.
  • Make informed decisions regarding the initiation, postponement, cancellation, or alteration of flights based on operational conditions.
  • Prepare or oversee all aspects of flight planning, including weather assessments, performance evaluations, appropriate altitudes, fuel requirements, airport facilities, navigational aids, and adherence to flight following protocols.
  • Ensure the completion, signing, and distribution of the aircraft weight and balance manifest.
  • Promptly report any known or suspected FAA violations or incidents to the Chief Pilot.
  • Maintain a valid medical certificate and inform the Chief Pilot of any medical issues that may affect flight performance.
  • Conduct thorough briefings for all passengers regarding the flight and ensure their comfort throughout the journey.
  • Coordinate all maintenance reports with maintenance personnel and keep Flight Operations informed about the aircraft's status.
  • Facilitate timely and efficient communication with Operations.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the General Operations Manual, FAA Regulations, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Ability to engage with clients effectively, ensuring their needs are met and resolving any issues with a courteous and helpful approach.
Minimum Requirements
  • Possession of an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Valid Passport.
  • A minimum of 2500 total flight hours.
  • At least 1000 hours as Pilot-in-Command.
  • A minimum of 750 hours in multi-engine aircraft.
  • At least 200 hours in turbine aircraft.
  • 50 hours flown in the last 90 days.
Work Environment

Work is conducted in an aircraft with a flexible flight schedule that may span all hours of the day.

Physical Demands

The role may require occasional lifting or moving of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
