Position Overview

The Oilfield Electrician is responsible for diagnosing and rectifying electrical issues associated with oilfield machinery. This role involves utilizing technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot problems effectively. The Electrician will also conduct tests on repaired equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, calibrate, and repair electrical motor controls across various voltage levels.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on electrical hardware, including motor controllers.
  • Set up electrical and electronic conduits, wiring, and control systems.
  • Fabricate and weld brackets and frameworks for both new and rehabilitated structures.
  • Possess knowledge and experience in overhead line work, including power lines and transformers.
  • Commit to promoting and adhering to safety protocols in all work environments.
  • Assess risks prior to task initiation and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Collaborate with other personnel to resolve non-electrical issues effectively.
  • Safely operate mobile equipment necessary for job performance.
  • Engage in training relevant to the role.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Electrical Supervisor.
  • Oversee contractors as required.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs as necessary.
  • Estimate material needs and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of others in the work area.
  • Familiarity with Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out procedures.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and recommend upgrades or repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with overhead line work, including power lines and transformers.
  • Preferred: Electrical certification such as Master Tradesman License.
  • Strong understanding of electrical drive systems.
  • Experience operating bucket trucks.
  • Familiarity with oilfield electrical equipment.
  • Preferred: Training from an electrical technical school.
  • General knowledge of machinery.
  • Understanding of residential and commercial electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of current electrical codes and industry standards.
  • Basic skills in reading blueprints and schematics.
  • Awareness of OSHA Construction Safety Requirements.
  • Understanding of secondary electrical systems and planning for modifications.
