Job Description:


The Department of Statistical Sciences at Wake Forest University is seeking applications for two tenure-track faculty positions to commence in the upcoming academic year.

We encourage applications from all domains within Statistics, Biostatistics, and Data Science.

We are looking for educators who are dedicated to excellence in both teaching and research, possess a desire to mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and are committed to enhancing the diversity and inclusivity of our statistics programs.

We strive for inclusivity and seek applicants with demonstrated success or interest in working with diverse populations. The positions are open to candidates across all areas of statistics and applied probability. A Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field is required. The teaching load is two courses per semester.


The department comprises twelve permanent faculty members, whose research interests span: actuarial science, applied probability, Bayesian methods, bioinformatics, biostatistics, causal inference, clinical trials, environmental statistics, foundations of statistics, functional data analysis, measurement error, missing data, networks, epidemiology, spatio-temporal models, and statistics education.

The statistics programs within the department include both a B.A. and a B.S. in Statistics, a B.S. in Applied Statistics, a B.S. in Mathematical Business, an M.S. in Statistics, and a Graduate Certificate in Data Science. More information can be found at

The cover letter must articulate why the teaching and research environment at Wake Forest aligns with the candidate's professional interests and goals.

At least two of the letters of recommendation should address the scholarship and/or scholarship potential of the applicant; at least one of the letters of recommendation should address the teaching ability of the applicant.
