Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechatronics Engineer to become a vital part of our Hardware Product team at Dexterity Inc. In this role, you will take charge of the design and integration of electro-mechanical systems for robotic automation, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the architecture of electro-mechanical systems for robotic automation products.
  • Design and integrate mechanical components, electronic sensors, actuators, and control systems to guarantee seamless operation and achieve desired performance metrics.
  • Develop low-level drivers to facilitate control and communication between hardware components, ensuring the system behaves as intended.
  • Select and incorporate suitable sensors, lidars, encoders, and other hardware components to create efficient, scalable, and robust solutions.
  • Prototype and evaluate Mechanical, Electrical, and Mechatronics solutions to assess system performance and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Program microcontrollers, PLCs, and other control devices to achieve the desired system behavior.
  • Maintain comprehensive design documentation that outlines device capabilities and operational procedures.
  • Assist with initial product installations at client facilities, providing troubleshooting and training support.

Collaboration:

Work closely with Mechanical and Electrical engineering teams to ensure the effective integration of electro-mechanical systems into product designs. Collaborate with Hardware Test engineers to create and implement thorough testing plans, analyzing results to drive ongoing improvements. Partner with Manufacturing engineers to ensure accuracy in BOM, define assembly and testing processes, and resolve any issues that may arise during manufacturing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, demonstrating a history of guiding products from conception to mass production.
  • Deep understanding of motors, servo drivers, sensors, robotic arms, and controllers.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation communication protocols such as EtherCAT, TwinCAT, and CANBUS.
  • Experience in developing low-level drivers for hardware peripherals using programming languages like Python, C, and C++.
  • Proficiency with industrial automation devices, including functional safety modules and PLCs, with programming experience in IEC languages.
  • Hands-on experience with lab test instruments such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Competence in using 3D CAD and eCAD tools for designing electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot control systems, PCBAs, and electrical system challenges.
  • Familiarity with the Hardware Product Life Cycle and product lifecycle management tools.
  • Strong technical writing skills and the ability to convey technical information effectively.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A quick learner who can independently translate knowledge into practical execution.

Compensation:

The base salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $185,000, determined by factors such as relevant experience, skills, and education.
