Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Systems Engineer to join our team at VAN ZEELAND TALENT LLC. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for preparing short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies for our clients in the electrical industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform short-circuit studies on the electrical distribution system to determine available fault current at pertinent locations
  • Manage and direct the work of electrical engineers reporting to you
  • Evaluate the short-circuit ratings of protective devices and other distribution equipment
  • Review existing system overcurrent protection and coordination, and recommend improvements to optimize coordination and protection of distribution equipment
  • Develop time-current coordination plots to derive coordinated settings for new and existing protective devices
  • Perform an arc flash hazard analysis per NFPA 70E on the electrical distribution system
  • Interpret specifications, customer drawings, and technical proposals to provide pricing for customers
  • Communicate with clients on a daily basis for ongoing projects and proactively anticipate future project/client needs
  • Train junior-level engineering team members on technical work

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated work experience in power systems engineering (load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies)
  • Ability to work independently and produce high-quality technical work
  • Self-starter/independent learner with good judgment, discipline, dependability, and responsibility
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills to communicate effectively with clients, field engineers, peers, and management
  • Professional Engineer License preferred or the ability to work towards a PE License over time
  • BSEE from an ABET accredited university is required
  • Expertise in using SKM Systems Analysis packages

This is a full-time position that can be worked remotely from a home office, or relocation assistance will be provided to the Washington DC Metro area or Pittsburgh, PA. The position offers a competitive benefits package, including health, dental, 401K, bonus, and vacation.
