LPN - Med/Surg Observation and Palliative Care Specialist

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in providing administrative support and patient care in a sensitive and compassionate environment. Under the direction of a Provider or RN, the LPN will work to ensure the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients are met.
Key Responsibilities- Directs unlicensed staff in work-related activities under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Manages patient assignments effectively.
- Uses assessment skills to collect data and collaborates with RN to discuss next steps in patient care.
- Communicates pertinent clinical information to the patient care team and keeps patients/families updated.
- Provides patient/family education under the direction of the registered nurse.
- Identifies discharge needs, participates in planning, and completes continuity of care forms as appropriate.
- Collaborates with attending physicians, house staff, registered nurses, and other healthcare disciplines regarding patient care.
- Performs treatments and procedures according to approved standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Administers medications according to the organization's standards, policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
- Successful completion of an approved Pharmacology Course with NAPNES Certification, OOPNES Certification, or Ohio Board of Nursing Card.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing.
- Current license in good standing to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Ohio.
- Current BLS/CPR and maintain current certification; IV certification preferred.
