Southland Holdings is actively seeking a skilled Screed Asphalt Operator to contribute to our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on equipment.
- Operate machinery safely and efficiently.
- Ensure the screed is clean and correctly adjusted for the paving tasks at the start and end of each shift.
- Monitor and manage temperature settings during operations.
- Adjust screed components according to project specifications, including paving width, depth, grade, and slope.
- Maintain proper contact between gates and the paving surface.
- Troubleshoot issues and make necessary adjustments to the screed during asphalt paving.
- Install and remove electronic grade control systems.
- Support the paving crew with site preparation and other related activities.
- Actively participate as a team member, contributing to the overall success of the project.
- Attend daily safety meetings and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Work hours may vary to accommodate project needs, including days, nights, and weekends.
- Be prepared to work in various weather conditions, whether hot or cold.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating asphalt machinery.
- Strong commitment to safety on the job site.
- Proven diligence in following safe work practices.
Compensation
Salary range is $20-25 per hour, depending on experience.
