We are seeking a meticulous and reliable Senior Construction Inspector I to oversee inspection activities within our Infrastructure division. This role involves ensuring adherence to project specifications, approved drawings, and relevant documentation. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and submitting thorough and precise inspection reports daily, following established quality protocols.
- Reviewing project plans, specifications, and drawings prior to executing assigned tasks.
- Conducting and supervising compliance tests on materials and completed work, utilizing standard methods and calibrated testing equipment.
- Training and guiding less experienced team members while prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Collaborating with project leaders on-site to coordinate testing and inspection processes.
- Assessing material tests and completed work to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Ensuring proper sampling techniques and locations for representative testing.
- Maintaining safe practices in the use and storage of all tools and documentation.
- Fostering positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Working closely with supervisors to set priorities and communicate progress on tasks.
- Participating in the Health & Safety programs and exemplifying safety standards.
- Performing additional duties as required.
Applicants should possess the following qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in roadway construction inspection or a NICET Level IV certification in Transportation Engineering Technology is preferred.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various project sites.
Related experience or education may be considered as a substitute for direct experience. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to follow instructions accurately. Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations, including algebra and geometry, is required. Additional certifications in radiation safety and testing procedures are preferred but can be pursued post-employment if necessary. Candidates should have a solid understanding of highway construction plans, inspection procedures, and materials testing protocols.
This position involves physical activities such as sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 70 pounds. The work environment may expose employees to heavy equipment, hazardous materials, and varying noise levels, necessitating adherence to safety protocols and the use of protective equipment.
Flexibility in work hours may be required to meet client needs, including potential travel to various locations.
