Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Industrial Hygienist to join our team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive industrial hygiene programs to identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards.
- Conduct industrial hygiene assessments, including exposure monitoring, hazard evaluations, and risk assessments.
- Develop and implement strategies and control measures to mitigate occupational health risks and prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate industrial hygiene principles into organizational policies, procedures, and practices.
- Stay knowledgeable of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in industrial hygiene and occupational health to continuously improve programs and initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science-related field and 6 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science-related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified; or EDO qualified and 2 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or 3 years SRE qualified and Water Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only); or SRE qualified and 6 years of experience.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist certification.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in 29 CFR 1910 and/or 29 CFR 1926 (OSHA), as well as national safety consensus standards (ANSI, NFPA).
- Experience with industrial hygiene monitoring equipment.
- Experience interacting with a diverse workforce, including engineers, skilled tradespersons, scientists, and technicians.
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
