Faculty Position in Marine Science and Conservation

The Dauphin Island Sea Lab is seeking a highly qualified faculty member to join our team of marine scientists and conservation experts. As a Senior Marine Scientist, you will have the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in the benthos, water column, or aspects of organismal biology and ecology, with a focus on enhancing the broad field of marine conservation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program
  • Advise students (primarily at the graduate level)
  • Participate in Dauphin Island Sea Lab outreach activities
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. (or similar terminal degree) in some aspect of the marine sciences, environmental science, biology, ecology, or a related discipline
  • Proven research background productivity as evidenced by a peer-reviewed publication record and recognition in the field
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Research interests that complement those of existing DISL faculty
  • Post-doctoral experience
  • Strong track record developing a well-funded research program
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, with strong communication skills
  • Experience with and commitment to quality mentoring and advising of students
