Diagnostic Imaging Specialist Job Description
The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic exams/procedures in the Ultrasound department in an efficient manner according to the physician's order.
The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist works effectively with patients and physicians and maintains cooperative relationships with interdepartmental personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize workload during high volume to expedite patient care and communicate to other technologists all pending exams and any pertinent information.
- Assist the physician in performing radiology procedures.
- Promote positive relationships at the department level and discuss concerns with the supervisor and present the department in a positive manner to other employees and staff.
- Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.
- Prepare for diagnostic testing by verification of physician order, verification of patient identity, communication with nursing unit when necessary for order clarification and/or patient transport needs.
- Thoroughly explain the procedure to the patient and/or family and answer questions regarding the test to alleviate anxiety and prepare patient for test.
- Obtain the highest quality studies possible following department protocol for physician interpretation.
- Maintain current BLS and ARDMS and/or CCI credentialing licensure status.
Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience.
- Able to perform Breast Ultrasound, Breast Biopsy, Abdomen, Small Part, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Paracentesis, Thoracentesis, and other Ultrasound Guided Procedures.
- Experience with Philips Pacs and FUJI Pacs.
- Experience with GE Logic E9 Machines.
- ARDMS certification.
- BLS (AHA) certification.
- Must have experience with ALL patient populations (Newborn - Geriatric).
Certification Requirements:
- ARDMS.
- BLS (AHA).
Weekend Requirements:
If weekend tech has requested off.
On Call Requirements:
One Weeknight of Call per week
