Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Chemist I to join our team at Joint Research & Development, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing chemical solutions, operating analytical instrumentation, and maintaining a laboratory notebook.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare chemical solutions and operate analytical instrumentation
  • Maintain a laboratory notebook on work performed
  • Collect data and produce review data packages
  • Perform setup and takedown of laboratory for each unique test
  • Clean-up following test, including proper decontamination and disposal of hazardous waste
  • Handle chemical warfare agent under engineering controls

Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree in chemistry or equivalent training
  • One year of experience with direct government or contractor supporting government laboratory operations contracts
  • Minimum of one year of laboratory experience
  • Proficiency in gas chromatography, spectroscopy, or other analytical instrumentation used in the laboratory
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of set-up, operation, sampling, calibration, quality control, data collection, and troubleshooting for test monitoring in a chemical agent or simulant environment
  • Level III Agent Handler certification
  • Personal Reliability Program qualification
  • Clear, concise, and accurate communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Valid driver's license to operate a variety of vehicles

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
