Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN) to provide exceptional care to patients in our specialized unit. In this role, you will be responsible for closely monitoring patients' conditions, evaluating vital signs, and implementing critical interventions as necessary. Your expertise in drug dose titration will be essential in managing patient care effectively.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in caring for patients with acute illnesses, particularly in step-down units, and will thrive in high-pressure environments. As a Progressive Care Nurse, you will be tasked with the vital responsibility of monitoring and interpreting vital signs, ensuring timely interventions, and facilitating optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess patient charts, medication plans, and diagnostic results upon admission to the unit.
  • Continuously monitor vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
  • Utilize specialized medical equipment to interpret patient data accurately.
  • Administer prescribed medications and perform drug dose titration as required.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations on any changes in patient conditions and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Communicate any deterioration in patient status to healthcare professionals and adhere to intervention protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
  • Supervise nursing assistants and support staff within the unit.
  • Provide clear explanations of treatments and procedures to patients and their families, addressing any inquiries they may have.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Intermediate Care (IMC), or Step Down Unit settings is preferred.
  • Active RN license in the state of practice.
  • Proficient in measuring and interpreting vital signs and specialized assessments.
  • Thorough understanding of drug dose titration and medical interventions.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare best practices and medical record management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support and guide patients and their families.
