Clinical Medical Assistants play a vital role in the success of our fertility care team at Colorado Center For Reproductive Medicine. As a Medical Assistant, you will provide essential support to healthcare providers and patients, contributing to a positive and reassuring patient experience.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for examination, including vital sign measurement, update health information, and current medication.
- Document patient vitals, assessment, encounter type, and provider into the electronic medical record.
- Communicate with physicians and/or nurse practitioners regarding changes in patient condition, abnormal vitals, lab results, and abnormal patient response during testing/exam.
- Prepare minor procedure trays and assist with procedures, such as hysteroscopy, endometrial and/or punch biopsy, cyst aspiration, Pap smears, GC/chlamydia testing, and HSG testing.
- Prep exam rooms respective to patient appointments and testing.
- Educate patients on procedures and provide answers prior to procedures.
- Assist physicians and/or nurse practitioners with patient examinations.
- Maintain patient workflow to meet physician/nurse practitioner scheduling requirements.
- Order and schedule lab tests as directed; review results and annotate appropriate disposition.
- Order prescriptions/refills for patients prior to procedures; notify patients upon completion.
- Disinfect rooms after each exam/appointment and re-prep for next patients.
- Equipment maintenance and sterilization; identify any need for supplies/parts/repair and notify the Practice Administrator.
- Order and maintain back-office supplies and reconcile monthly receipts/packing slips for submission to the business office.
- Scan signed consents, office appointment forms, laboratory, and pathology reports into the electronic medical record.
- Monitor medicine cabinets/refrigerators and order medications as needed.
- Perform urine pregnancy tests, document results in the electronic medical record, and communicate with physicians, nurse practitioners, or rad technicians prior to exams/procedures.
- Autoclave all used instruments, document size and type of instrument on packages, change sterile/cleaning solutions, and document in the soak log.
- Clean stationary room equipment, underside of exam tables, and provide clean/linens/supplies for all patient rooms weekly minimum or as needed.
- Maintain HIPAA and confidentiality for all patient and clinic information, HIV confidentiality.
- Understand and assess potential domestic violence and child abuse issues and report concerns to the Medical Director or Practice Administrator.
- High School Diploma Required.
- Medical Assistant (MA) -or- Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) credential required.
- BCLS certification required.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- 1+ year Medical Assistant -or- Licensed Practical Nursing experience preferred.
- A minimum of two hundred (200) successful blood draws is required (with documentation).
