Job Overview

The Controls Engineer will lead the implementation of standardized best engineering controls practices and processes across CCCI Manufacturing and Warehouse departments. This role will establish and implement controls programming practices that ensure optimal machine performance and overall line efficiency and productivity improvements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop high-level control strategies for automated equipment in our warehouse and manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop control strategies for automated production facility machinery, including PLC-driven equipment.
  • Assist with the design and development of control systems for new equipment and systems.
  • Serve as the Company Controls expert and power user, providing guidance to the Director of Engineering, the Senior Director of Manufacturing, Plant Managers, and Vertique Systems Managers.
  • Establish an overarching controls philosophy and logic for all equipment systems within the company.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and repair control systems, and provide control logic guidance and training to plant Maintenance Managers.
  • Supervise, educate, and train plant-level control engineers.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • High degree of professionalism.
  • Thorough knowledge of and high skill level programming of motion systems, PLCs, and associated Controls systems.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Allen Bradley and RS View a plus.
  • Ability to understand and properly influence decisions of senior management.
  • Ability to influence decision making of peers.
  • Knowledge of controls systems development methodology.
  • Detailed and structured thought process.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Facilitating skills.
  • Advanced PLC programming skills.

Work environments will vary, including noisy and non-temperature-controlled environments or extreme temperatures.
