Job Summary:

Under the administrative direction of the Radiology Director and the clinical direction of the Radiologist, this Radiologic Imaging Specialist will independently perform radiologic procedures with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Competently operate imaging equipment while performing procedures in a safe and optimal manner.
  • Review medical records for patient history and pertinent clinical information.
  • Transfer patients to imaging tables, explain procedures, and position patients according to protocol.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals as authorized by the Radiologist.
  • Recognize and respond to hypersensitivity and/or allergic reactions.
  • Review studies for overall quality.
  • Operate computers associated with imaging equipment to produce, process, and optimize clinical data.
  • Perform quality control procedures on imaging and ancillary equipment to ensure compliance with Federal and Joint Commission standards.
  • Organize daily work schedules and respond to emergencies as necessary.
  • Demonstrate competency in the use of Radiology Information Systems, Hospital Information Systems, and other computer systems.
  • Perform filing and administrative/clerical procedures to support diagnostic services.
  • Interact professionally with patients, colleagues, and other co-workers to effectively complete daily tasks.
  • Participate in the Performance Improvement Program and continuing education activities as required.
  • Perform on-call duties and work variable shifts as assigned to meet departmental needs.
  • Maintain supply inventory and order supplies as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist by the State of Maine.
  • Current CPR certification.
Work Environment:

This position requires the ability to transport patients, which involves lifting and assisting others in lifting. Lifting and filing of film requires bending and lifting overhead as needed.
