Job Summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg team on a per diem basis. As a member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to achieve exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize the Nursing Process to deliver and manage patient care from admission to discharge, tailored to the developmental age of the patient population.
  • Perform patient assessment and reassessment according to standard procedure.
  • Develop and coordinate individual plans of care, including discharge planning.
  • Direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical settings.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
  • Document patient care according to standard procedure.
  • Develop, implement, and document education plans for patients, families, and significant others.
  • Ensure quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other healthcare providers.
  • Administer medications, perform treatments, therapies, and operate equipment according to policy and procedure.
  • Assist physicians with treatment and procedures as required or directed.
  • Participate in and support Nursing Governance activities.
  • Assume responsibility for professional growth and development.
  • Assist in education and development of staff.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.
Requirements
  • Current Massachusetts licensure and graduation from an accredited school of nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is also accepted, in addition to any unit-specific certifications and competencies.
  • Thorough knowledge of the discipline of nursing.
