Job Title: Facility Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of Houston Food Bank's facilities, systems, and equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facilities, systems, and equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Inspect and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems, including compressors, evaporators, and cooling towers.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of Life Safety systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and emergency lighting.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs, including work orders, inventory, and equipment logs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and minimize disruptions.
  • Participate in safety training and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 5+ years of maintenance experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of verifiable ammonia refrigeration experience and/or equivalent training.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal codes and standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions:

The Facility Maintenance Technician will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to changing temperatures, humidity, and noise levels. The role requires regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional travel to other sites for business.
