Your Role:
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will independently conduct Radiographic Imaging procedures. This includes handling, preparing, calculating dosages, and administering radionuclides and interventional medications under the supervision of a radiologist or cardiologist. You will maintain accurate records in compliance with departmental and state regulations, assist the radiation safety officer as necessary, and ensure patient transportation to the imaging area. You will position patients correctly to obtain high-quality diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation via the PACS system. Additionally, you will assist the Radiologist with any required procedures and perform clerical tasks within the radiology department as needed. Basic patient care will be provided within your scope of practice and departmental standards. You are responsible for adhering to the Corporate Compliance plan and the regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies, as well as the standards of all accrediting bodies.
Your Contributions to the Team:
· **Conducts high-quality nuclear imaging examinations utilizing appropriate equipment and radiation safety protocols. Ensures adherence to established procedures and verifies prescriptions to confirm the correct tests are performed. Prepares, calculates dosages, and administers radionuclides and/or interventional medications as directed by a radiologist or cardiologist. Checks next-day schedules to prevent any scheduling conflicts.
· **Maintains records in accordance with departmental policies and state requirements, utilizing either a dose computer or paper tracking system. Keeps documentation for quality assurance performed on cameras and other equipment, including survey meters, dose calibrators, and glucose meters. Assists the radiation safety officer when required.
· **Utilizes computer systems to initiate and complete examinations accurately.
· **Sends images to PACS following standard workflow processes. Inputs all technical information related to the examination and collects appropriate patient history documented on scanned requisitions.
Monitors online worklists during working hours and at shift changes.
Qualifications:
The expertise and experiences you will need to succeed:
- Associate's degree from an accredited program
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
