About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer to join our AI Privacy team at TikTok. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing privacy-aware infrastructure across feature engineering, training data generation, model training, and product usage of AI.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to design user-friendly and efficient platform functionalities for data governance.
  • Design and develop system architecture and functionality for privacy engineering frameworks and platforms.
  • Work on anonymization, pseudonymization, and encryption technologies to preserve user privacy in all ML data processing activities.
  • Partner with operations and business teams to address technical challenges when applying solutions throughout our product suite.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry progress in privacy engineering and gather feedback from business lines to continuously improve efficiency and stability of solutions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or above, 3+ years of software engineering experience.
  • In-depth understanding of computer principles, familiar with general server architecture, skilled use of various data structures and algorithms, proficient in a programming language.
  • Good business scenarios and requirements understanding, able to design reasonable technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork spirit.
  • Rigorous logical thinking.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in delivering distributed systems and data infrastructure in a production setting.
  • Experience of privacy awareness process design for SDLC, AI model training.
  • Experience of data processing control solutions like purpose limitation, access control, etc.
  • Experience of data protection solutions like data classification, data deidentification, etc.
  • Rich experience in Internet product architecture design.
  • Experience with data governance framework to register, manage, and control data lifecycle to meet privacy compliance requirements.
