We are seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to join our team at our Martinsburg, WV location. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for implementing standards of care for occupational therapy services and adhering to all conditions outlined in the Contractual Services Agreement.
Responsibilities- Evaluate patient's functional status, including muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self-care ability, and work capacity.
- Identify equipment needs and participate in the development of the total plan of care.
- Develop treatment programs and establish goals for improved function.
- Communicate plans of care to referring physicians and other organization professionals.
- Teach new skills or retrain patients in once familiar daily activities that have been lost due to illness or injury.
- Fabricate splints and instruct patients in the use of various types of adaptive equipment to improve function.
- Train patients in the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
- Maintain appropriate clinical records, clinical notes, summary reports, and reports to physicians any changes in the patient's condition.
- Maintain contact/communication with other personnel involved in the patient's care to promote coordinated, efficient care.
- Attend and contribute to in-services, case conferences, and other meetings as required to ensure coordinated and comprehensive plans of care for patients.
- Identify patient and family/caregiver needs for other home health services and refer as appropriate.
- Instruct patient's family/caregiver and other healthcare personnel in patient's treatment regime when indicated and appropriate.
- Licensed or otherwise regulated as an Occupational Therapist by the state in which practicing, unless licensure does not apply.
- Graduate after successful completion of an occupational therapist education program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. (AOTA) or successor organizations of ACOTE.
- Eligible to take, or has successfully completed the entry-level certification examination for occupational therapists developed and administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT).
- Preferred one year of experience as an occupational therapist. Home Health experience preferred.
- CPR certification.
