Key Responsibilities of the Repair Supervisor:
This role is pivotal in overseeing the production of railcar rolling stock within our repair facility. The Repair Supervisor is accountable for ensuring that safety, quality, production, and environmental objectives are consistently met. This position involves significant interaction with skilled labor employees and various departments, including management, safety, human resources, and clients.
Primary Duties Include:
- Exemplifying core values to foster a positive communication environment.
- Leading safety initiatives and ensuring adherence to all railcar safety protocols.
- Supervising a workforce of 1 to 50 employees in mechanical servicing of railcars, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Managing workforce efficiency to meet or exceed performance metrics.
- Planning and organizing production shifts to align with operational goals.
- Conducting in-process quality inspections to maintain high standards.
- Communicating effectively with team members to ensure smooth production flow.
- Utilizing technical expertise to resolve issues and maintain quality repairs.
- Training and motivating staff to maintain a productive work environment.
- Ensuring timely completion of all necessary documentation.
- Addressing personnel matters including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Coordinating with various departments to ensure operational efficiency.
- Maintaining adequate inventory of materials and supplies.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the rail repair industry.
- Advanced understanding of AAR Interchange Rules.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and workforce management software.
- Basic financial and accounting knowledge.
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
Physical and Work Environment:
This position requires physical stamina, including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work will be conducted in various environments, including exposure to outdoor elements and heavy machinery. Employees may be required to work overtime or varied shifts as necessary.
