Job Title: Community Paramedic III

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Paramedic III to join our team at the County of Gaston. As a key member of our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and community outreach services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Induct individuals with Opioid Use Disorder into the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program and provide daily dosing of medication.
  • Maintain a rapport with the jail medical provider and communicate frequently regarding inmates' treatment and health status.
  • Work closely with the Peer Support Specialist to build relationships with inmates and facilitate their transition to community-based MAT programs.
  • Provide outreach education to inmates and participate in community outreach programs and prevention initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders, including jail health providers, physician offices, and social services, to offer coordinated and integrated care.
  • Consistently demonstrate professional behavior and perform proactive interventions that support the Mission, Vision, and Values of Gaston County EMS.
  • Build and advocate for the program, creating community engagement and providing outreach education to the public.
  • Maintain all knowledge, skills, and competencies to perform this role and demonstrate standards of performance that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university EMS program with a valid NC Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification.
  • AAS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Current certification in North Carolina as a NC Paramedic (NRP preferred) with current certification and/or Instructor in the following: ACLS, PHTLS, PALS/PEPP, AMLS, CPR, ASLS (preferred), NRP (preferred).
  • Valid North Carolina Drivers License with no more than 3 points on driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain IBSC CP-C certification within six months of hire.
  • Experience and training in responding and controlling hazardous material incidents.

Working Conditions: This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interactions with inmates, healthcare providers, and community members. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
