Job Title: School Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at Education Service Center 2 Consortium. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of students, staff, and the community.

Job Summary:

The School Nurse will provide professional nursing services to students, staff, and the community, including health assessments, screenings, and interventions. You will also develop and implement individualized healthcare plans, provide health education, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care to students, including health assessments, screenings, and interventions.
  • Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with special needs.
  • Provide health education to students, staff, and the community.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed to maintain clinic inventory.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Texas Department of Health rule, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Valid registered nurse license (RN) from the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Current automatic external defibrillator (AED) and cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificates.
  • Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening.
  • 2 years nursing experience, preferred.
Working Conditions:

The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, staff, and the community. The position requires frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. The School Nurse may be exposed to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The School Nurse will direct the work of licensed vocational nurse (LVN) and assigned health clinic aide(s).
