We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Lead Software Engineer to join our team at the University of Washington's eScience Institute. Job SummaryThe successful candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, with experience in designing and implementing applications/systems, as well as leading dynamic teams. You will be responsible for advancing innovative and unique approaches and methods of software development, managing products end-to-end, and tailoring existing or creating new systems to meet specific research needs.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement applications/systems that offer a wide range of functionalities to the user population.
- Lead the design and implementation of applications/systems, advancing innovative and unique approaches and methods of software development.
- Manage the products end-to-end, ensuring they meet the needs of our research community.
- Tailor existing or create new systems to meet specific research needs, working closely with researchers to understand their requirements.
- Collaborate with research design teams to build internal code design and development guides for future contributors.
- Contribute to other deliverables as designed by SSEC leadership, including documentation and operational systems/user guides.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of previous experience in software engineering, with a strong background in designing and implementing applications/systems.
- Experience leading dynamic teams, with a proven track record of driving innovation and excitement to learn about new technologies and science applications.
- Strong understanding of most phases of software development or lifecycle, with experience in Agile development practices, including test-driven development.
- Strong acumen for software testing and documentation, with a commitment to quality.
