Public Safety Professional

We are currently seeking experienced law enforcement officers to join our team at the City of Des Moines, Washington. As a full-time commissioned law enforcement officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, preventing crimes, and controlling traffic flow. You will also participate in and conduct various criminal investigations, make arrests, and provide support to special crime prevention and law enforcement programs.
Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year

- 104 hours of holiday leave received each January
- Longevity premiums after five (5) years of service

Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Possession of valid Washington State Driver's License by the time of appointment
- Must be at least 20.5 years of age at the time of application
- Pursuant to RCW 41.12.070, must be a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident who can read and write the English language
- Because of the known effects of tobacco use, the City of Des Moines does not hire applicants who use tobacco products
- Must successfully pass all background screening conducted by the Department, including drug history, driving record, credit history, criminal record, work history, reference check, and Chief's interview
