Position Overview

The Maine Sleep Institute, recognized as the premier facility in the state for comprehensive sleep health services, is seeking to expand its dedicated care team.

In this role, you will collaborate with a vibrant team of certified sleep specialists, respiratory therapists, and fellow polysomnographers to assess and manage sleep and wake disorders across all age groups.

As an integral part of the MaineHealth system, your contributions will play a vital role in promoting community health and wellness.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct technical laboratory procedures for sleep disorder evaluations, ensuring direct and thorough patient interaction. The outcomes of these tests are crucial for diagnostic and treatment strategies, with most tasks performed under minimal oversight.
  • Essential Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of high school education, supplemented by coursework in physical and biological sciences.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current BLS Certification. Credentialing as a RPSGT by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologies is required, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience. Candidates with an RRT and RT license or R.EEG.T credential and at least one year of experience in the RT or EEG field may be considered, provided they obtain RPSGT credential within one year of hire.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience in the sleep medicine sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, facilitating cooperation during sleep studies and follow-up therapeutic interventions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with colleagues, supervisors, and physicians.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks in high-pressure situations or during sudden patient scheduling changes.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and concentration while performing and scoring tests.
  • Proficient reading, writing, and mathematical skills typically acquired through high school education and additional coursework in physical and biological sciences.
