Job Summary

Under the direction of the Materials Manager, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for obtaining favorable pricing consistent with required quantity, quality, delivery, availability, and other factors on goods and services utilized in the manufacturing of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and qualify sources of goods and services for use in the manufacturing of our Company's products.
  • Conduct negotiations with vendors to obtain the best possible pricing for purchased goods and services.
  • Act as the point-of-contact between the Company and vendors on issues of quality, timeliness of delivery, price, and other related issues.
  • Develop bid specifications or purchasing specifications used by vendors in establishing their costs.
  • Review submissions and recommend the acceptance of the bid or quoted price.
  • Monitor usage of purchased supplies and initiate timely re-ordering and delivery of supplies.
  • Perform required analysis to determine usage trends and projected costs.
  • Assist in the conduct of quarterly inventory valuations.
Requirements
  • BS/BA in a related field required.
  • 3-5 years of equivalent experience in the purchase of goods and services in a manufacturing environment required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong communications skills - verbal, written, and presentation - ability to communicate insight and ideas effectively.
  • Negotiation skills - must be able to close deals with favorable results.
  • Strong people skills - ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Strong follow-up skills with the ability to multi-task.
