Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Center Director, the Lead Teacher for Toddlers is accountable for designing and executing the daily curriculum tailored to the developmental needs of young children. The primary focus is on achieving program excellence and fostering high-quality care standards. The Lead Teacher will ensure the continuity of the program by adhering to established schedules and facility usage plans, while complying with relevant regulations and standards.

This role is situated within our Toddler 2 Classroom, catering to children aged 24-36 months.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans.
  • Facilitate daily classroom activities that promote learning.
  • Ensure daily sign-in and sign-out procedures for parents/guardians are followed.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and families.
  • Create and maintain a safe, inviting learning environment.
  • Continuously enhance professional knowledge and classroom skills.
  • Notify management of significant issues requiring attention.
  • Organize center events such as field trips and special activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the classroom.
  • Understand and apply emergency procedures and regulations.
  • Implement established childcare policies and state regulations.
  • Participate in all required meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain necessary certifications.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with at least six credit-bearing courses in Early Childhood, meeting all regulatory requirements and possessing experience in leading groups of young children, which includes:

Associate degree in Early Childhood or Child Development, or related field AND one year of experience in caring for infants and toddlers OR Infant/Toddler Credential or Infant/Toddler CDA AND two years of experience in child care OR CDA AND two years of experience caring for children (with at least one year focused on infants and toddlers) OR 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field with a plan leading to a credential AND two years of experience in child care (with at least one year focused on infants and toddlers).

  • Familiarity with resources for programming ideas and the ability to effectively implement them in daily activities.
  • Exhibit maturity, responsibility, and a genuine interest in working with children and families.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to supervise children visually and audibly at all times.
  • Capacity to respond quickly to safety concerns in the environment.
  • Ability to remain calm and respectful in potentially stressful situations.
  • Ability to navigate the classroom to assist children and oversee their activities.
  • Capability to lift young children and supplies weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and move between different program sites.
