POSITION OVERVIEW
The Metallurgical Engineer is responsible for managing the operations of both the Metal and Sand laboratories, ensuring that all requisite testing is performed to confirm that the produced iron adheres to the relevant standards. This role provides essential technical support in analyzing quality concerns, enhancing processes, and undertaking various specialized projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Fostering a culture of safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee engagement to maintain a secure work environment. Ensuring that all personnel are aware of the safety protocols established by the organization.
- Championing the company's culture, mission, vision, and core values, which includes adherence to safety beliefs, employee involvement, competencies, code of conduct, and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Possessing expertise in laboratory equipment such as Spectrometers, Tensile Testing machines, Carbon Sulfur analyzers, and various other testing instruments.
- Supervising laboratory testing methodologies and ensuring the maintenance of accurate test documentation.
- Exhibiting strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
- Engaging in technical writing.
- Ensuring that all technical specifications are maintained within designated limits or taking corrective actions to uphold product quality.
- Verifying that testing procedures and equipment comply with applicable ASTM standards.
- Confirming that the final product meets customer specifications.
- Analyzing casting defects and providing recommendations for process enhancements.
- Investigating quality issues related to metallurgical or sand factors and suggesting corrective measures.
- Conducting various research initiatives in areas such as technical advancements, process improvements, and reduction of variability.
- Offering technical guidance to production staff and proposing specific process improvement strategies to meet quality standards.
- Assisting in the oversight of various quality management systems, including ISO, BNQ, NF, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited four-year institution is required. A minimum of three years of relevant experience, with a solid understanding of the chemical and structural composition of ferrous iron, is preferred. Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and strong teamwork skills are advantageous.
